Mica Powder UK – Cosmetic Grade Shimmer for Wax, Soap, Resin & Cosmetics

Our mica powders are cosmetic grade mineral pigments with a fantastic shimmer and metallic-like finish. They are vegan-friendly, cruelty-free and ethically sourced, and come in over 100 shades — from soft pastels and pearly whites to deep metallics and colour-shifting interference micas.

What can you use mica powder for?

Mica powders add instant appeal and value to handmade products. Popular uses include:

  • Wax melts – mix through the wax for a shimmering finish, or dust over the top
  • Candles – ideal for decorating the surface of candles and pillar candles
  • Soap – melt & pour and cold process soap, swirls and soap tops
  • Resin art – coasters, trays, jewellery and keepsakes
  • Cosmetics – eyeshadows, highlighters, nail polish and lip products*
  • Crafts – clay decoration, and mixing with paint, ink and silicone

*Not all colours are suitable for lip products – check each product page for its ingredients and suitability.

How much mica powder should I use?

For a shimmering effect in wax, we recommend using around 5% mica powder to wax. You can combine mica with our candle dyes to create a richer colour. Mica is a pigment rather than a dye, so it sits in the wax rather than dissolving – always test a small batch first to get the look you want.

Making bath bombs or other water-based products? Standard micas are not water soluble – try our AquaPearls water dispersible micas instead. For a plastic-free glitter effect, see our EcoSparks eco glitter.
