How much Brazilian 59 fragrance oil do I need for a candle?
Use 5–10% of the candle’s total weight. For a 200g candle that’s 10–20g of Brazilian 59 (about 10–19ml). There is no IFRA limit for candles. The calculator above works it out for any size.
How much Brazilian 59 should I use in wax melts?
Use 5–10% – that’s 5–10g of fragrance oil for every 100g of finished melts. Check the maximum your wax can hold.
Can I use Brazilian 59 in a reed diffuser?
Yes. Use 15–25% Brazilian 59 in a reed diffuser base such as Augeo Clean Multi. The IFRA maximum is 25%. Ready-made reed diffuser CLP labels and an SDS are in the documents above.
Can I use Brazilian 59 in soap, lotion or perfume?
- Soap: yes – 3–6% (IFRA maximum 25%)
- Body lotion: yes – 0.5–1.5% (IFRA maximum 14.22%)
- Face cream: yes – 0.1–0.5% (IFRA maximum 5.83%)
- Perfume: yes – 5–20% (IFRA maximum 55.55%)
- Lip balm: not suitable
Soap, lotion and perfume are cosmetics, so each one needs a safety assessment (CPSR) before you sell it.
Is Brazilian 59 fragrance oil hazardous?
Undiluted, Brazilian 59 is classified under GB CLP with the signal word Warning:
- H315 Causes skin irritation.
- H317 May cause an allergic skin reaction.
- H319 Causes serious eye irritation.
- H411 Toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects.

Is Brazilian 59 fragrance oil flammable?
No. Its flash point is >100°C, so it isn’t classified as flammable. Like any fragrance oil, keep it away from naked flames.
Will Brazilian 59 discolour my wax?
It’s unlikely. Brazilian 59 contains no vanillin or ethyl vanillin, the most common cause of discolouration. Always test with your own wax and dyes.

Can I use them in electric diffusers or oil burners?
Most can. Where suitable:
- Electric diffusers – add a few drops to the water, adjusting to taste.
- Oil burners – mix 50/50 with dipropylene glycol (DPG), or add a few drops to water in the well.
How do I use the 100ml bottles?
They include a blind plug to prevent leaks in transit. Either pierce the centre with a pin or biro to use it as a dropper, or remove the stopper, pour, and replace the plug.
