The scent

Citronella & Flowers Fragrance Oil brings a refreshing twist to a classic outdoor favourite. Bright, zesty citronella takes centre stage, softened beautifully by delicate floral notes of lily, rose, jasmine, and a touch of violet. The result is a clean yet elegant scent that feels both uplifting and refined — perfect for summer evenings, garden parties, and outdoor candles that keep spaces feeling fresh and inviting. Its gentle floral undertone also makes it a lovely addition to spa-style or spring home fragrance collections all year round.

Recommended amounts are starting points – always test. Incense and hanging car fresheners use the candle limit (Cat 12). Linen, fabric and car air freshener sprays use the room spray limit (Cat 10B). Bath bombs, bath salts, shower gel and body scrubs use the soap limit (Cat 9). Not recommended means the IFRA limit is too low for a good scent, not that it is banned. No fragrance oil is approved for lip products.

Questions

Common questions

What does Citronella & Flowers fragrance oil smell like?

Bright and clean with citronella freshness over soft floral notes of lily, rose, jasmine, and violet. Top notes: citronella. Heart: lily, rose, jasmine, violet.

How much Citronella & Flowers fragrance oil do I need for a candle?

Use 5–10% of the candle’s total weight. For a 200g candle that’s 10–20g of Citronella & Flowers (about 11–22ml). There is no IFRA limit for candles. The calculator above works it out for any size.

How much Citronella & Flowers should I use in wax melts?

Use 5–10% – that’s 5–10g of fragrance oil for every 100g of finished melts. Check the maximum your wax can hold.

Can I use Citronella & Flowers in a reed diffuser?

Yes. Use 15–25% Citronella & Flowers in a reed diffuser base such as Augeo Clean Multi. The IFRA maximum is 25%. Ready-made reed diffuser CLP labels and an SDS are in the documents above.

Can I use Citronella & Flowers in soap, lotion or perfume?

  • Body lotion: yes – 0.5–1.5% (IFRA maximum 4.11%)
  • Face cream: yes – 0.1–0.5% (IFRA maximum 0.91%)
  • Perfume: yes – 5–8.75% (IFRA maximum 8.75%)

Is Citronella & Flowers fragrance oil hazardous?

Undiluted, Citronella & Flowers is classified under GB CLP with the signal word Danger:

  • H315 Causes skin irritation.
  • H317 May cause an allergic skin reaction.
  • H318 Causes serious eye damage.
  • H412 Harmful to aquatic life with long lasting effects.

Candles, wax melts and diffusers you make with it may need their own CLP label. Full details are in the Safety Data Sheet.

Is Citronella & Flowers fragrance oil flammable?

No. Its flash point is 97°C, so it isn’t classified as flammable. Like any fragrance oil, keep it away from naked flames.

Will Citronella & Flowers discolour my wax?

It’s unlikely. Citronella & Flowers contains no vanillin or ethyl vanillin, the most common cause of discolouration. Always test with your own wax and dyes.

Is there a CLP label for Citronella & Flowers?

Yes. Our free CLP label creator makes a ready-to-print label for candles and wax melts made with Citronella & Flowers, and for reed diffusers. Safety Data Sheets, IFRA certificates and label files are in the documents above.

Are your fragrance oils vegan?

Yes. All are 100% vegan with no animal-derived ingredients.

Can I use Citronella & Flowers in an electric diffuser or oil burner?

Yes.

  • Electric water diffusers (ultrasonic or humidifier style) – fill the tank with water to the line, then add 3–5 drops per 100ml of water. Start low and add more to taste.
  • Oil burners – mix 50/50 with dipropylene glycol (DPG), or add a few drops to water in the well.

Important – look after your diffuser:

  • Fragrance oils are concentrated, and some plastics used in diffuser tanks can soften, cloud or crack if oil is left sitting in them. This depends on the plastic the diffuser is made from. It happens with any concentrated fragrance or essential oil, not just ours.
  • Empty the tank when you’ve finished. Don’t leave water and oil sitting in it between uses.
  • Rinse and wipe the tank every few uses, as fragrance oils can leave a film.
  • Check your diffuser’s instructions to make sure it is suitable for fragrance oils. If it says essential oils only, or doesn’t say, ask the maker before using it.

How do I use the 100ml bottles?

They include a blind plug to prevent leaks in transit. Either pierce the centre with a pin or biro to use it as a dropper, or remove the stopper, pour, and replace the plug.
