The scent

Vanilla & Anise Fragrance Oil opens with a soft lift of gentle lemon, adding a delicate citrus brightness that feels smooth and refined rather than sharp. As the fragrance unfolds, a subtle floral heart emerges, lightly spiced to create warmth and quiet intrigue without overpowering the composition. The base settles into rich amber, clean musk, and creamy vanilla, enveloping the scent in a smooth, exotic comfort that lingers beautifully. Elegant and sensual, this feminine, perfume-inspired floral-gourmand fragrance is especially well suited to autumn and winter collections, offering warmth, intimacy, and timeless sophistication for evening-led home fragrance.

Questions

What does Vanilla & Anise fragrance oil smell like?

Floral-gourmand with soft citrus, gentle florals, warm spice, creamy vanilla, amber, and musk. Top notes: lemon. Heart: florals, spice. Base: amber, musk, vanilla. It’s inspired by a well-known designer fragrance – see which one in our designer dupe chart.

How much Vanilla & Anise fragrance oil do I need for a candle?

Use 5–10% of the candle’s total weight. For a 200g candle that’s 10–20g of Vanilla & Anise (about 10–20ml). There is no IFRA limit for candles. The calculator above works it out for any size.

How much Vanilla & Anise should I use in wax melts?

Use 5–10% – that’s 5–10g of fragrance oil for every 100g of finished melts. Check the maximum your wax can hold.

Can I use Vanilla & Anise in a reed diffuser?

We don’t recommend it. The IFRA maximum for reed diffusers is only 13.33%, which is too low for a good scent throw.

Can I use Vanilla & Anise in soap, lotion or perfume?

  • Soap: yes – 3–6% (IFRA maximum 13.33%)
  • Body lotion: yes – 0.5–1.5% (IFRA maximum 25.82%)
  • Face cream: yes – 0.1–0.5% (IFRA maximum 3.11%)
  • Perfume: yes – 5–20% (IFRA maximum 44.41%)
  • Lip balm: not suitable

Soap, lotion and perfume are cosmetics, so each one needs a safety assessment (CPSR) before you sell it.

Is Vanilla & Anise fragrance oil hazardous?

Undiluted, Vanilla & Anise is classified under GB CLP with the signal word Warning:

  • H315 Causes skin irritation.
  • H317 May cause an allergic skin reaction.
  • H410 Very toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects.

Candles, wax melts and diffusers you make with it may need their own CLP label. Full details are in the Safety Data Sheet.

Is Vanilla & Anise fragrance oil flammable?

No. Its flash point is 93°C, so it isn’t classified as flammable. Like any fragrance oil, keep it away from naked flames.

Will Vanilla & Anise discolour my wax?

It may. Vanilla & Anise contains vanillin (0.45%), which can turn wax, soap and other bases cream to brown over time. Test before bulk pouring – see our vanillin guide.

Which designer fragrance is Vanilla & Anise inspired by?

Vanilla & Anise is inspired by a well-known designer fragrance. Find out which one in our designer dupe chart.

Is there a CLP label for Vanilla & Anise?

Are your fragrance oils vegan?

Yes. All are 100% vegan with no animal-derived ingredients.

Can I use them in electric diffusers or oil burners?

Most can. Where suitable:

  • Electric diffusers – add a few drops to the water, adjusting to taste.
  • Oil burners – mix 50/50 with dipropylene glycol (DPG), or add a few drops to water in the well.

How do I use the 100ml bottles?

They include a blind plug to prevent leaks in transit. Either pierce the centre with a pin or biro to use it as a dropper, or remove the stopper, pour, and replace the plug.
