The scent

Velvet Ember Fragrance Oil opens with an intoxicating blend of fruity davana and spiced rum, lifted by pink pepper, elemi, and aromatic coriander for a rich, warming introduction typical of luxury perfume-inspired scents. As the fragrance unfolds, bold tuberose melts into creamy coconut and smooth sandalwood, creating a decadent heart that balances floral intensity with velvety softness. The base settles into a smoky, sensual fusion of tonka absolute, glowing amber, cistus, vetiver, and soft musk, leaving a deep, enveloping trail. Opulent and seductive, this fragrance is especially well suited to autumn and winter collections, coming into its own during evenings, statement pieces, and luxury gifting moments.

Questions

Common questions

What does Velvet Ember fragrance oil smell like?

Oriental-woody with spiced fruits, creamy florals, coconut, sandalwood, amber, tonka, and smoky woods. Top notes: davana, rum, pink pepper, elemi, coriander. Heart: tuberose, coconut, sandalwood. Base: tonka, amber, cistus, vetiver, musk. It’s inspired by a well-known designer fragrance – see which one in our designer dupe chart.

How much Velvet Ember fragrance oil do I need for a candle?

Use 5–10% of the candle’s total weight. For a 200g candle that’s 10–20g of Velvet Ember (about 9–18ml). There is no IFRA limit for candles. The calculator above works it out for any size.

How much Velvet Ember should I use in wax melts?

Use 5–10% – that’s 5–10g of fragrance oil for every 100g of finished melts. Check the maximum your wax can hold.

Can I use Velvet Ember in a reed diffuser?

We don’t recommend it. The IFRA maximum for reed diffusers is only 5.2%, which is too low for a good scent throw.

Can I use Velvet Ember in soap, lotion or perfume?

  • Soap: yes – 3–5.2% (IFRA maximum 5.2%)
  • Body lotion: yes – 0.5–1.5% (IFRA maximum 12.4%)
  • Face cream: yes – 0.1–0.5% (IFRA maximum 1%)
  • Perfume: yes – 5–20% (IFRA maximum 86%)
  • Lip balm: not suitable

Soap, lotion and perfume are cosmetics, so each one needs a safety assessment (CPSR) before you sell it.

Is Velvet Ember fragrance oil hazardous?

Undiluted, Velvet Ember is classified under GB CLP with the signal word Warning:

  • H317 May cause an allergic skin reaction.
  • H411 Toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects.

Candles, wax melts and diffusers you make with it may need their own CLP label. Full details are in the Safety Data Sheet.

Is Velvet Ember fragrance oil flammable?

No. Its flash point is >100°C, so it isn’t classified as flammable. Like any fragrance oil, keep it away from naked flames.

Will Velvet Ember discolour my wax?

It may. Velvet Ember contains vanillin (0.5%), which can turn wax, soap and other bases cream to brown over time. Test before bulk pouring – see our vanillin guide.

Which designer fragrance is Velvet Ember inspired by?

Velvet Ember is inspired by a well-known designer fragrance. Find out which one in our designer dupe chart.

Is there a CLP label for Velvet Ember?

Yes. Our free CLP label creator makes a ready-to-print label for candles and wax melts made with Velvet Ember. Safety Data Sheets, IFRA certificates and label files are in the documents above.

Are your fragrance oils vegan?

Yes. All are 100% vegan with no animal-derived ingredients.

Can I use Velvet Ember in an electric diffuser or oil burner?

Yes.

  • Electric water diffusers (ultrasonic or humidifier style) – fill the tank with water to the line, then add 3–5 drops per 100ml of water. Start low and add more to taste.
  • Oil burners – mix 50/50 with dipropylene glycol (DPG), or add a few drops to water in the well.

Important – look after your diffuser:

  • Fragrance oils are concentrated, and some plastics used in diffuser tanks can soften, cloud or crack if oil is left sitting in them. This depends on the plastic the diffuser is made from. It happens with any concentrated fragrance or essential oil, not just ours.
  • Empty the tank when you’ve finished. Don’t leave water and oil sitting in it between uses.
  • Rinse and wipe the tank every few uses, as fragrance oils can leave a film.
  • Check your diffuser’s instructions to make sure it is suitable for fragrance oils. If it says essential oils only, or doesn’t say, ask the maker before using it.

How do I use the 100ml bottles?

They include a blind plug to prevent leaks in transit. Either pierce the centre with a pin or biro to use it as a dropper, or remove the stopper, pour, and replace the plug.
