The scent

Spirit Fragrance Oil opens with a crisp, zesty sweep of bergamot and aromatic myrtle, fresh, green and instantly awakening. The heart unfolds around grounding cypress, delicate jasmine sambac and a salt-touched whisper of seaweed, lending an earthy, almost coastal depth. Smooth cashmere wood, smoky palo santo and resinous olibanum settle in beneath, wrapped in soft ambergris for a meditative, woody warmth. A sophisticated, elemental scent that captures the magic of standing between forest and sea.

Can't put my finger on this scent (it's beautiful by the way!). It has soft notes that give off tranquil vibes, but then there's a bold note that cuts through, and it's simply stunning

Questions

Common questions

What does Spirit fragrance oil smell like?

Aromatic woody aquatic with bergamot, myrtle, cypress, jasmine sambac, seaweed, cashmere wood, palo santo, ambergris, and olibanum. Top notes: bergamot, myrtle. Heart: cypress, jasmine sambac, seaweed. Base: cashmere wood, palo santo, olibanum. It’s inspired by a well-known designer fragrance – see which one in our designer dupe chart.

How much Spirit fragrance oil do I need for a candle?

Use 5–10% of the candle’s total weight. For a 200g candle that’s 10–20g of Spirit (about 10–20ml). There is no IFRA limit for candles. The calculator above works it out for any size.

How much Spirit should I use in wax melts?

Use 5–10% – that’s 5–10g of fragrance oil for every 100g of finished melts. Check the maximum your wax can hold.

Can I use Spirit in a reed diffuser?

Yes. Use 15–25% Spirit in a reed diffuser base such as Augeo Clean Multi. The IFRA maximum is 25%. Ready-made reed diffuser CLP labels and an SDS are in the documents above.

Can I use Spirit in soap, lotion or perfume?

  • Soap: yes – 3–6% (IFRA maximum 25%)
  • Body lotion: yes – 0.5–1.5% (IFRA maximum 48.71%)
  • Face cream: yes – 0.1–0.5% (IFRA maximum 5%)
  • Perfume: yes – 5–20% (no IFRA limit)
  • Lip balm: not suitable

Soap, lotion and perfume are cosmetics, so each one needs a safety assessment (CPSR) before you sell it.

Is Spirit fragrance oil hazardous?

Undiluted, Spirit is classified under GB CLP with the signal word Warning:

  • H315 Causes skin irritation.
  • H317 May cause an allergic skin reaction.
  • H410 Very toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects.

Candles, wax melts and diffusers you make with it may need their own CLP label. Full details are in the Safety Data Sheet.

Is Spirit fragrance oil flammable?

No. Its flash point is >100°C, so it isn’t classified as flammable. Like any fragrance oil, keep it away from naked flames.

Will Spirit discolour my wax?

It may. Spirit contains vanillin (0.4%), which can turn wax, soap and other bases cream to brown over time. Test before bulk pouring – see our vanillin guide.

Which designer fragrance is Spirit inspired by?

Spirit is inspired by a well-known designer fragrance. Find out which one in our designer dupe chart.

Is there a CLP label for Spirit?

Yes. Our free CLP label creator makes a ready-to-print label for candles and wax melts made with Spirit, and for reed diffusers. Safety Data Sheets, IFRA certificates and label files are in the documents above.

Are your fragrance oils vegan?

Yes. All are 100% vegan with no animal-derived ingredients.

Can I use Spirit in an electric diffuser or oil burner?

Yes.

  • Electric water diffusers (ultrasonic or humidifier style) – fill the tank with water to the line, then add 3–5 drops per 100ml of water. Start low and add more to taste.
  • Oil burners – mix 50/50 with dipropylene glycol (DPG), or add a few drops to water in the well.

Important – look after your diffuser:

  • Fragrance oils are concentrated, and some plastics used in diffuser tanks can soften, cloud or crack if oil is left sitting in them. This depends on the plastic the diffuser is made from. It happens with any concentrated fragrance or essential oil, not just ours.
  • Empty the tank when you’ve finished. Don’t leave water and oil sitting in it between uses.
  • Rinse and wipe the tank every few uses, as fragrance oils can leave a film.
  • Check your diffuser’s instructions to make sure it is suitable for fragrance oils. If it says essential oils only, or doesn’t say, ask the maker before using it.

How do I use the 100ml bottles?

They include a blind plug to prevent leaks in transit. Either pierce the centre with a pin or biro to use it as a dropper, or remove the stopper, pour, and replace the plug.
