The scent

Citrus and black pepper open with a crisp, spiced clarity that feels immediately polished and considered. Rose and cinnamon emerge in the heart — a classic pairing that stops this from being just another woody aromatic and gives it a quiet floral elegance. Sandalwood, cedar, and musk close with a dry, distinguished finish that carries well in diffusers and wax. Classically British in character and effortlessly versatile — the kind of fragrance that earns a permanent place in a gender-neutral lineup and works equally well in a Father’s Day collection, a heritage-inspired range, or as a sophisticated everyday option across any season.

Spicy woody with citrus, black pepper, rose, cinnamon, sandalwood, cedar, and musk. Top notes: citrus, black pepper. Heart: rose, cinnamon. Base: sandalwood, cedar, musk. It’s inspired by a well-known designer fragrance – see which one in our designer dupe chart.

How much Victorian Opus fragrance oil do I need for a candle?

Use 5–10% of the candle’s total weight. For a 200g candle that’s 10–20g of Victorian Opus (about 10–20ml). There is no IFRA limit for candles. The calculator above works it out for any size.

How much Victorian Opus should I use in wax melts?

Use 5–10% – that’s 5–10g of fragrance oil for every 100g of finished melts. Check the maximum your wax can hold.

Can I use Victorian Opus in a reed diffuser?

Yes. Use 15–25% Victorian Opus in a reed diffuser base such as Augeo Clean Multi. The IFRA maximum is 26.66%. Ready-made reed diffuser CLP labels and an SDS are in the documents above.

  • Perfume: yes – 5–20% (IFRA maximum 40%)
  • Lip balm: not suitable

Is Victorian Opus fragrance oil hazardous?

Undiluted, Victorian Opus is classified under GB CLP with the signal word Warning:

  • H315 Causes skin irritation.
  • H317 May cause an allergic skin reaction.
  • H319 Causes serious eye irritation.
  • H411 Toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects.

Candles, wax melts and diffusers you make with it may need their own CLP label. Full details are in the Safety Data Sheet.

Is Victorian Opus fragrance oil flammable?

No. Its flash point is >100°C, so it isn’t classified as flammable. Like any fragrance oil, keep it away from naked flames.

Will Victorian Opus discolour my wax?

It may. Victorian Opus contains vanillin (0.04%), which can turn wax, soap and other bases cream to brown over time. Test before bulk pouring – see our vanillin guide.

Which designer fragrance is Victorian Opus inspired by?

Victorian Opus is inspired by a well-known designer fragrance. Find out which one in our designer dupe chart.

Is there a CLP label for Victorian Opus?

Yes. Our free CLP label creator makes a ready-to-print label for candles and wax melts made with Victorian Opus, and for reed diffusers. Safety Data Sheets, IFRA certificates and label files are in the documents above.

Are your fragrance oils vegan?

Yes. All are 100% vegan with no animal-derived ingredients.

Can I use Victorian Opus in an electric diffuser or oil burner?

Yes.

  • Electric water diffusers (ultrasonic or humidifier style) – fill the tank with water to the line, then add 3–5 drops per 100ml of water. Start low and add more to taste.
  • Oil burners – mix 50/50 with dipropylene glycol (DPG), or add a few drops to water in the well.

Important – look after your diffuser:

  • Fragrance oils are concentrated, and some plastics used in diffuser tanks can soften, cloud or crack if oil is left sitting in them. This depends on the plastic the diffuser is made from. It happens with any concentrated fragrance or essential oil, not just ours.
  • Empty the tank when you’ve finished. Don’t leave water and oil sitting in it between uses.
  • Rinse and wipe the tank every few uses, as fragrance oils can leave a film.
  • Check your diffuser’s instructions to make sure it is suitable for fragrance oils. If it says essential oils only, or doesn’t say, ask the maker before using it.

How do I use the 100ml bottles?

They include a blind plug to prevent leaks in transit. Either pierce the centre with a pin or biro to use it as a dropper, or remove the stopper, pour, and replace the plug.
