Questions

Common questions

What does Citrus Palm fragrance oil smell like?

Fresh citrus-tropical with lemon peel, lemongrass, coconut milk, melon, and soft musk. Top notes: lemon peel, orange, coconut milk, lemongrass. Heart: melon, lime. Base: vanilla, florals, white musk. It’s inspired by a well-known designer fragrance – see which one in our designer dupe chart.

How much Citrus Palm fragrance oil do I need for a candle?

Use 5–10% of the candle’s total weight. For a 200g candle that’s 10–20g of Citrus Palm (about 11–22ml). There is no IFRA limit for candles. The calculator above works it out for any size.

How much Citrus Palm should I use in wax melts?

Use 5–10% – that’s 5–10g of fragrance oil for every 100g of finished melts. Check the maximum your wax can hold.

Can I use Citrus Palm in a reed diffuser?

Yes. Use 15–25% Citrus Palm in a reed diffuser base such as Augeo Clean Multi. The IFRA maximum is 26%. Ready-made reed diffuser CLP labels and an SDS are in the documents above.

  • Body lotion: yes – 0.5–1.5% (IFRA maximum 3.31%)
  • Face cream: yes – 0.1–0.5% (IFRA maximum 3.31%)
  • Perfume: yes – 5–13.25% (IFRA maximum 13.25%)

Is Citrus Palm fragrance oil hazardous?

Undiluted, Citrus Palm is classified under GB CLP with the signal word Danger:

  • H304 May be fatal if swallowed and enters airways.
  • H315 Causes skin irritation.
  • H317 May cause an allergic skin reaction.
  • H318 Causes serious eye damage.
  • H411 Toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects.

Candles, wax melts and diffusers you make with it may need their own CLP label. Full details are in the Safety Data Sheet.

Is Citrus Palm fragrance oil flammable?

No. Its flash point is 64°C, so it isn’t classified as flammable. Like any fragrance oil, keep it away from naked flames.

Will Citrus Palm discolour my wax?

It may. Citrus Palm contains vanillin (1%) and ethyl vanillin, which can turn wax, soap and other bases cream to brown over time. Test before bulk pouring – see our vanillin guide.

Is Citrus Palm fragrance oil phthalate-free?

Yes – Citrus Palm is phthalate-free.

Which designer fragrance is Citrus Palm inspired by?

Citrus Palm is inspired by a well-known designer fragrance. Find out which one in our designer dupe chart.

Is there a CLP label for Citrus Palm?

Yes. Our free CLP label creator makes a ready-to-print label for candles and wax melts made with Citrus Palm, and for reed diffusers. Safety Data Sheets, IFRA certificates and label files are in the documents above.

Are your fragrance oils vegan?

Yes. All are 100% vegan with no animal-derived ingredients.

Can I use Citrus Palm in an electric diffuser or oil burner?

Yes.

  • Electric water diffusers (ultrasonic or humidifier style) – fill the tank with water to the line, then add 3–5 drops per 100ml of water. Start low and add more to taste.
  • Oil burners – mix 50/50 with dipropylene glycol (DPG), or add a few drops to water in the well.

Important – look after your diffuser:

  • Fragrance oils are concentrated, and some plastics used in diffuser tanks can soften, cloud or crack if oil is left sitting in them. This depends on the plastic the diffuser is made from. It happens with any concentrated fragrance or essential oil, not just ours.
  • Empty the tank when you’ve finished. Don’t leave water and oil sitting in it between uses.
  • Rinse and wipe the tank every few uses, as fragrance oils can leave a film.
  • Check your diffuser’s instructions to make sure it is suitable for fragrance oils. If it says essential oils only, or doesn’t say, ask the maker before using it.

How do I use the 100ml bottles?

They include a blind plug to prevent leaks in transit. Either pierce the centre with a pin or biro to use it as a dropper, or remove the stopper, pour, and replace the plug.
