The scent

Oudhess Fragrance Oil opens with a bright lift of lime, lemon, and orange, adding a crisp citrus sparkle that contrasts beautifully with the depth to come. As the fragrance develops, a warm woody heart of clove, cedar, sandalwood, and patchouli unfolds, creating a smooth, spiced richness with earthy sophistication. The base settles into soft vanilla and glowing amber, wrapping the woods in a creamy warmth that lingers with quiet sensuality. Deep, opulent, and beautifully balanced, this woody-oriental fragrance is especially well suited to autumn and winter collections, evening ranges, and premium blends with a luxurious, statement character.

Recommended amounts are starting points – always test. Incense and hanging car fresheners use the candle limit (Cat 12). Linen, fabric and car air freshener sprays use the room spray limit (Cat 10B). Bath bombs, bath salts, shower gel and body scrubs use the soap limit (Cat 9). Not recommended means the IFRA limit is too low for a good scent, not that it is banned. No fragrance oil is approved for lip products.

Questions

Common questions

What does Oudhess fragrance oil smell like?

Woody-oriental with citrus top notes, spiced woods, amber, and vanilla. Top notes: lime, lemon, orange. Heart: clove, cedar, sandalwood, patchouli. Base: vanilla, amber. See it in our Scent Match Guide.

How much Oudhess fragrance oil do I need for a candle?

Use 5–10% of the candle’s total weight. For a 200g candle that’s 10–20g of Oudhess (about 10–20ml). There is no IFRA limit for candles. The calculator above works it out for any size.

How much Oudhess should I use in wax melts?

Use 5–10% – that’s 5–10g of fragrance oil for every 100g of finished melts. Check the maximum your wax can hold.

Can I use Oudhess in a reed diffuser?

Yes. Use 15–25% Oudhess in a reed diffuser base such as Augeo Clean Multi. The IFRA maximum is 41.8%. Ready-made reed diffuser CLP labels and an SDS are in the documents above.

Can I use Oudhess in soap, lotion or perfume?

  • Soap: yes – 3–6% (IFRA maximum 68.57%)
  • Body lotion: yes – 0.5–1.5% (IFRA maximum 9.14%)
  • Face cream: yes – 0.1–0.5% (IFRA maximum 6%)
  • Perfume: yes – 5–20% (IFRA maximum 35.71%)
  • Lip balm: not suitable

Soap, lotion and perfume are cosmetics, so each one needs a safety assessment (CPSR) before you sell it.

Is Oudhess fragrance oil hazardous?

Undiluted, Oudhess is classified under GB CLP with the signal word Warning:

  • H315 Causes skin irritation.
  • H317 May cause an allergic skin reaction.
  • H319 Causes serious eye irritation.
  • H411 Toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects.

Candles, wax melts and diffusers you make with it may need their own CLP label. Full details are in the Safety Data Sheet.

Is Oudhess fragrance oil flammable?

No. Its flash point is 85°C, so it isn’t classified as flammable. Like any fragrance oil, keep it away from naked flames.

Will Oudhess discolour my wax?

It may. Oudhess contains vanillin (0.2%), which can turn wax, soap and other bases cream to brown over time. Test before bulk pouring – see our vanillin guide.

Is Oudhess in the Scent Match Guide?

Yes – see Oudhess in our Scent Match Guide, which suggests our oils for fragrances you may already enjoy.

Is there a CLP label for Oudhess?

Yes. Our free CLP label creator makes a ready-to-print label for candles and wax melts made with Oudhess, and for reed diffusers. Safety Data Sheets, IFRA certificates and label files are in the documents above.

Are your fragrance oils vegan?

Yes. All are 100% vegan with no animal-derived ingredients.

Can I use Oudhess in an electric diffuser or oil burner?

Yes.

  • Electric water diffusers (ultrasonic or humidifier style) – fill the tank with water to the line, then add 3–5 drops per 100ml of water. Start low and add more to taste.
  • Oil burners – mix 50/50 with dipropylene glycol (DPG), or add a few drops to water in the well.

Important – look after your diffuser:

  • Fragrance oils are concentrated, and some plastics used in diffuser tanks can soften, cloud or crack if oil is left sitting in them. This depends on the plastic the diffuser is made from. It happens with any concentrated fragrance or essential oil, not just ours.
  • Empty the tank when you’ve finished. Don’t leave water and oil sitting in it between uses.
  • Rinse and wipe the tank every few uses, as fragrance oils can leave a film.
  • Check your diffuser’s instructions to make sure it is suitable for fragrance oils. If it says essential oils only, or doesn’t say, ask the maker before using it.

How do I use the 100ml bottles?

They include a blind plug to prevent leaks in transit. Either pierce the centre with a pin or biro to use it as a dropper, or remove the stopper, pour, and replace the plug.
